We have a selection of authors, some of whom will be appearing in the Festival, who can run a range of workshops from illustration to how to write a book. Authors will be appropriate for primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities.

Debate Matters
How does debate inspire writing? Debate is central to the Bath Literature Festival and within this year’s theme of Origins and Identity a wide range of writers will explore different issues. Bath Festivals are committed to raising the curiosity, interest and enthusiasm young people exhibit when they are encouraged to discuss topical and often contentious issues.
Would you like to start a debating society? Would you like to explore how debate can inspire all kinds of writing? Would you like to empower young people and help them grow in confidence?
The programme will link your school with a published author or an experienced public speaker who will facilitate sessions to explore and expand pupil’s skills in debating and look at how to develop debates into fiction and non-fiction writing.
We can offer a one-off coaching session on a date of your choice, or an extended programme of three sessions spread throughout the year and Bath Festivals will support a further three inter-school debates throughout the year.
The season kicks off with The Youth Debate: Should Young People Have a Social Conscience?
Thursday 28 February 2.30-3.30pm Guildhall £3.
